Actionable insights to improve board effectiveness
Issues facing corporate boards have never been more complex and demands on directors’ time have never been greater. In a time of uncertainty, the opportunity to engage with director peers in a private, off-the-record setting on the toughest boardroom challenges is invaluable.
G100 BoardExcellence helps directors navigate these complex challenges, delivering actionable insights that improve board effectiveness, enhance digital risk governance, and promote productivity between CEOs and their boards. Participants who have faced the toughest governance challenges—activists, unexpected CEO succession, strategy shifts, cyber breaches—share their experiences in an interactive fireside chat format. The program emphasizes peer exchange, providing an outside-in perspective directors can bring back to their boards to improve performance and stay current on emerging topics.
BoardExcellence Governance Members support good governance, director education, and director independence by providing board members access to a full series of peer engaged meetings and roundtables. Participants are Fortune 1000 chairs, lead directors, committee chairs, and rising boardroom voices of the future. An experienced director chairs and participates throughout each meeting, and discussion leaders include boardroom leaders from influential companies. The peer engaged format encourages an active dialogue among participants, while the meeting's structure and agenda enables attendees to network with peers. Facing fast-changing demands, the opportunity to engage with director peers in a private, off-the-record setting on the toughest boardroom challenges is invaluable.

Exclusive member content excerpts
G100 BoardExcellence provides board directors a platform for discussions that surface the most current thinking on the most pressing issues facing corporate boards.
Dispel the digital director myth. No one technologist on the board, digital evangelist in leadership, or tool, such as predictive analytics, will deliver on the promise of digital transformation. This poses an obstacle for most companies because it exposes two faulty assumptions: No two companies are at the same point in their digital journey, and boards cannot treat digital as something separate or someone else’s problem.
Identify and prepare. A robust process for succession planning does both. The board owns this, with guidance from management and directors who embrace their dual role as talent scout and coach. Great CEOs and the most viable succession candidates do three things well: define reality correctly today, paint a clear and compelling vision of the future, and lead in the execution of that vision.
In the face of a global pandemic and calls for action on social justice and equity, we compiled a summary of Governance Insights highlighting key concerns for board members raised at our G100 BoardExcellence director events throughout 2020. The insights highlighted below have evolved from several peer engaged debates and specific case examples which shape our BoardExcellence sessions and will be used to inform future agendas.
